A Tipping Point?

Late last night Tesla unveiled it’s mass-market electric car, the Model 3. The folks at Wired have already driven a Model 3, and here’s what they had to say about the experience:

And Business Insider apparently likes the Model 3 as well:

If you aren’t rooting for Tesla to succeed then you are rooting against our country’s best interests. You are rooting against a better future.

We all need to root for Tesla. Tesla’s success is our country’s success. Our planet’s success. The world needs to move away from fossil fuels as quickly as possible, and Tesla is leading the charge, against some pretty big head winds.

Aside:

If you pay attention closely enough you’ll start noticing patterns in how people talk about Tesla.

The people who love Tesla love Tesla. Pretty simple.

The people rooting against Tesla almost always have a financial incentive to do so. Either they are involved in the fossil fuel industry or they’re involved in the traditional automotive industry or they are a stock speculator betting against the company for no reason other than to skim a little profit when the stock moves up and down.

You’ll also notice that they will jump on every single piece of negative news and will blow it beyond all proportion. An example: Every time a Tesla is involved in a serious or fatal accident, it makes national news. yet GMs, Fords, Volvos, etc are in fatal accidents every single day without making national news.

We need to keep in mind the warped incentives when we read negative stories about Tesla.

Electric cars are inevitable. There is nothing anyone can do to stop it. We have no other choice. So best to get on board while the getting is good……
