Americans are too fat to donate their bodies to science

My latest post, from an article in Vice that’s both sad and funny at the same time.

We already knew Americans are fat and getting fatter. What we didn’t know is that Americans are so fat that they can’t donate their bodies to science any more.

Maybe we should consider trying to solve the obesity problem by looking at the causes? I know, I know. It’s all about “personal responsibility,” right?

Well, does personal responsibility also apply to Big Food and Big Agriculture? Or do we give Big Food a pass? Should we hold Big Food accountable when they knowingly load up their food-like products with sugar and chemicals designed to addict children? Or is that okay with us since Big Food increases their profits by loading their products with addictive garbage?

Do we worship Corporations (which are make-believe fictional constructs, not flesh and blood human beings) in American so much nowadays that we are fine letting Big Food poison us in the name of money?

Right now, unfortunately, the answer is “profits first, damn the consequences to everyone else.”
